Jefferson Mule Drawn Wagon Tours is family owned and operated by Joe and Kim McKnight. Joe is not only owner he is also operator, doing the narrated tours himself aboard his mule drawn wagon.
The McKnight family has been in Marion County for many generations and has lots of heritage in the Jefferson area. During his life Joe has always been an animal person. His family always had horses and cows when he was growing up and as a teenager he grew to love the rodeo life, riding both bulls and pick-up man for many years before settling down. After marrying and having children of his own he continued his love of animals and has always shared that love with his family, always having horses, goats, mules, pigs and numerous dogs during his children's upbringing. Now after retiring he has gone back to what he loves, animals and the outdoors. He now owns 8 mules and three wagons and loves just riding around on them. He purchased Jefferson Mule Drawn Wagon Tours in January 2008 so that he can do what he loves as a living for his family. This way of life has always been normal for his own two children and now his three grandchildren are getting to be raised the same way.
We have two wagons in town, one that will carry 18 people and the other will carry 10 people. The small wagon is a new wagon with drop down sides that can be lowered in the cold winter months and raised up in the hot summer months. We also have blankets available in the winter if they are needed.
